Recommendations

I'd like to go ahead and wish all a prosperous and happy 2009. I have made no resolutions, except the resolution to make resolutions on time next year! In between now and then, I'd just like a few good books to read. Please pass on recommendations (and you can leave out the Twilight series as I have actually read them). Thanks in advance -- I really do love a good book.

I haven't read them but the new craze I am hearing about is hunger games. I am planning on reading them soon.

If you don't mind nonfiction--'Three Cups of Tea' is very good. It's the story of a man who saw a need in the Middle East and dedicated himself to building schools.

Hey April! I have loved all of Shannon Hale's books -- my favorite is "The Book of a Thousand Days" followed by "The Goose Girl" (which has two sequels) and "Pricess Academy"

Oops - that last one should be Princess Academy (darn sticky N key...)

My new fave is by Michelle Richmond - I loved The Year of the Fog, and I just read No One You Know. Got "No One" from the Mitchell Library and still have it. Parker may read it but may not. Let me know if you'd like to borrow it! (I don't recommend all of her books however- ask me in person!)

I'll double on the books by Shannon Hale. And the kite runner was just recommended to me, but I haven't read it yet. I really liked the nine kingdoms books by Lynn Kurland. Or most anything by Georgette Hyer

What kind of books do you like? Fiction, non-fiction, scary, sappy...? I need more info.
